Your battery may be failing and require replacement. Assuming that the iPad remains functional, you would be well advised to directly contact Apple Support - and request a remote battery test. The result of the test may better inform your next steps.

Just a guess. You are not using an Apple cable and charger?
Are you using the Apple power/charge cable and Apple power/charging adapter block that came with your 7th gen iPad?
