Mail lost all accounts and mails after Big Sur Upgrade

After the upgrade from Catalina to Big Sur, launching Mail starts with asking you to set up an account. This means all settings and the accounts with mails have not been transferred to this new upgrade. How can I get things in order again?

as long as you haven't made any changes in your mail on the provider's web page, you can remove and then re-add the account to the mail app. it will reload everything from there. it will bring folders from the web page, but you may need to reorganize them once they are back in the mail app.

Thank you JeffreyTheFrog for your suggestion.

What I actually did is, removing the Mail folder from the ~Library folder and setting-up the Mail account. Once it connected with the server it downloaded all received mails. I still have to import the sent mails from the folder I removed to the desktop.
