I recently updated the email address for my iTunes account but my iPod touch will only allow the old email address as the log in, which of course no longer works. There is now an activation lock on the device and I can't access it.

I recently updated the email address for my iTunes account but my iPod touch will only allow the old email address as the log in, which of course no longer works. There is now an activation lock on the device and I can't access it because it wants me to use the old email address. So, now I'm completely locked out of my iPod. Any suggestions?
