I'm thinking about purchasing an Apple Watch SE for my daughter, but my husband and I have Samsung phones. I've been reading that I need an iPhone to set it up and to manage its features. I was wondering if I'd be able to use a disconnected iPhone (without cellular data), by connecting it to Wi-Fi.

There is no way for her to call without a phone number which means a cellular connection.
As to messages, only if the the watch is connected to a know wifi and she would need to have an apple id
It would use messenger.
You need a working iPhone with cellular connection for that to work.
And the Watch has to be the Cellular + GPS version.
It all depends on how you want to use the watch.
But at it's lowest level yes it would work.
I'd like for my daughter to be able to call and text me. Would it still work?
I'm referring to the new Apple Watch SE that it's designed for family members without an iPhone. It's almost like a stand-alone product with its own number.
