I want my kids to be able to use a Homepod Mini as their primary way of listening to music. They don't have Apple devices or accounts. Can they play playlists using the mini? Can they create playlists using the mini? If they do, whose account do the playlists get added to?

See Set up multiple users on HomePod - Apple Support. That would appear to require that each user has their own iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with which to train Siri. Or you let it respond to any voice, use a single Apple Music account, and you set up all of the playlists that you require, which I guess in turn will require a degree of trust with the kids.

HomePod on Siri can play from your unhidden purchase history. To get access to playlists and your other music you would need Apple Music or iTunes Match. Apple Music is the most flexible, but you still cannot create playlists on the HomePod. iTunes/Music or an Apple iOS device is needed for that.

Thanks tt2. Would the HomePod have its own apple music profile, or would it have access to all of my family's profiles? E.g., if I wanted to play my playlists, and my kids wanted to play theirs, how would that work? When the kids wanted to use iTunes to create a playlist, who would they have to log in as?
