Get rid of Safari Reading List

How do I get rid of the Safari reading list. Using Big Sur on a MacBook Air with M1. I don't want to delete websites from the list. I want to get rid of the whole thing so it doesn't keep popping out. I know how to hide it, but it still keeps popping out when the cursor gets over to the left side. I'd like to get rid of it permanently.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.2
