My wife bought a new iMac 2020 and migrated OS and apps from a 2013 Mac Pro. Want to use the Mac Pro for me but they seem to be networked. If I delete something on the desk top it deletes it from her desk top and vise versa, even trash does the same. How can I make them two separate computers?
Your wife might alternately want to follow these instructions - the steps will disassociate the machine from her account completely and you can set it up using your own ID - during setup, make sure that syncing is not enabled (which it shouldn't since it would then be two different Apple ID accounts).

Most likely, iCloud syncing is on.
On the Mac Pro, go to System Preferences > Apple ID/iCloud, and take a look at the "check-marked" settings. Consider making a new Apple ID iCloud account for the Mac Pro.

I followed the guide to open in recovery modest checked but the wrong option. I reinstalled the OS which just took me back to the way it was. Now I cannot open in recovery mode at all. I hold down command R when restarting but it just opens normally.
Is their something I'm doing wrong now?
