Having an issue with sound output- I select the iMac to use HomePod pair as sound, but constantly have to redo the setting- Pause what you're listening to (music, podcasts, etc), and it defaults back to the computer audio.
Found a post somewhere saying to hold OPTION when you click the speaker pair, no luck.
On a 2019 21.5 iMac, Big Sur 11.3.1.

Ok got it. Looks like it's set at the 44. and 16 bit.
Oddly enough, I noticed now that the default (internal), is set at 24 bit. Think that might be part of this?

Whenever you run an update or upgrade, sometimes these settings go too high. 16 bit stereo 44.1 kHz are best.

You need to change the default internal on Built-in Output.
If I could figure out how to change the internal speakers to 16, sounds like you're saying that might do it. But... I can't for the life of me figure out where/how to do this.
