apple watch 3 no data

Can I back up my fitness data from my Apple watch 3? I am already out of data after only 8 months of use! I need I can't do an update. I don't want to lose my hard work ! But I can't update without restarting my watch or resetting it. Do I have to upgrade to a newer watch?

Your fitness data is on the phone not the watch,when you unpair the watch a backup is made in icloud and when you repair the backup is restored back to the watch.
