Apple tv - Volume control (HDMI volume) is missing

According to the manual:

Settings/remote and device/home cinema control/volume control -> here should be HDMI option.

I get only auto and via IR/tv but I need the HDMI option.

Auto and Ir/tv and learn new device doesn't work when using projector.

anybody figured out how to do it?

Volume control through HDMI requires an AV receiver with that capability. Not all receivers have that. The menu will show what is detected. It is part of CEC, so that has to be activated on both devices as well.
