This hasn't occurred before. After erasing my SSD and then trying to reinstall macOS - I get this, "recover server could not be contacted" error message and nothing more to go on. I give up.

Apple is very light on explanations. :(
Make sure your clock is set right, and you may need to add DNS#s using Terminal if you have no boot drive.
Looks like I needed the WiFi connection to continue. What was weird was that I have installed macOS without the WiFi on - but, whatever. I got it working now.
