Change power off for iPad Air Gen 4?

I have an IPad Air 4th Gen model MYFX2LL/A and I hate the #$&*”%!! Power Button on the side which replaced the round button on the face. I am constantly turning off my iPad accidentally. Becauseof the way I hold the iPad in my hands, I very frequently touch that #$&*”%!! button without intending to and wham!, the screen goes black.

Is there a way to change the setting to require a double-click rather than a single touch to shut off the screen? If not, I am probably going to end up trading this thing for a “lesser” iPad that doesn’t constantly infuriate me.

I like to hold the iPad so that it is oriented for width rather than height- having the control on the upper left is better than having it on the lower right but I still touch it frequently with my left hand and the screen goes black and I have to fingerprint in again

No. The power button on older iPads requires a firm push. This one with the fingerprint reader in it only requires light contact. I have been using iPads for a decade and have never had this problem until I purchased these Gen4 Air.

You cannot edit that hardware function. And the home button was never the power button. The ON/OFF & Sleep/Wake button has always been a rectangular button on the side or top (portrait mode) and it has always functioned to lock the display when pressed. All iPad models have that hardware button and all work exactly the same way.

I do not understand what you are telling me

But if you already use your iPad in landscape orientation ( horizontally ), try rotating the screen another 180˚ still using it horizontally. The power/Touch ID button will be in a different location where you might be less likely to touch it accidentally.

Why don't you simply rotate the iPad 180˚ so the button isn’t an issue?
