Mac OSX 11.4, Safari 14.1, Website set to Never Auto-Play - Doesn't work most of the time

Hi All,

As the subject line reads, I'm using a Mac running the newest version of OSX with Safari and some news papers do what they can to have videos running which is a propper painpoint.

So my question is: When the browser's Never Auto-Play is active, how come it dones't work for some and others it does?

Is there anything that can be done (maybe on a case-to-case basis) to get rid of these annoying auto play videos?

I searched for the auto play switch off, but it's the same answer which doesn't work all over (at least what I found) or way out of date :-)
