I recommend taking a look at this article with steps to follow to Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac. This will perform checks and stop certain software from starting up automatically. Once you are in safe mode, test to see if you have the same issue.

I wanted to comment that MY MacBook Pro does the same, but ONLY when using my MacBook's keyboard. When I attach an external keyboard it doesn't happen. To ME, that points to it being an issue with the built-in keyboard, not a software issue. Right?
