Hello!

I’ve been there before. Can you say what happens when you try to reset the password?

Have you tried all the methods here already:

If you forgot your Apple ID password:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201487

If you can not reset the password, and your security level is Two Factor Authentication:

(Which requires a trusted number or device to

receive a code in order to authenticate you are who you say you are, to prevent anyone trying to access your account).

If you’ve followed the previous steps, are not signed into any other devices, or have access to a trusted phone number or device, or otherwise, you can request Account Recovery:

How to use account recovery when you can’t reset your Apple ID password:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204921

If you are signed in on another trusted device, and have other phone numbers you’ve added to your account to be trusted, you should be able to reset it. Otherwise, you can request Account Recovery.

Preferably its best to do so from one of your devices that uses the Apple ID, via the Settings, or the Find My application. Otherwise, you can always go to:

https://iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid

Hope that helps, likewise, if you are trying to unlock a device from Find My, for any reason, such as repairing the phone, trying to get it replaced, or just trying to get into it to get your data....You can submit the original receipt or proof of ownership to Apple here:

Hope one of those helps!
