Late 2013 iMac for external display

What are my options to use Late 2013 21" iMac for external display for new M1 iMac?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

No sorry, the 2020 M1 does not support using the 2013 iMac as a display.

Yea' I seen many conflicting complaints from folks here on this subject.

That would you think is the likelihood Apple changes this with a software update?

It's highly unlikely, because it requires both the old older Mac's Mini DisplayPort/Thunderbolt 2 hardware plus the older software versions.
