What happens to iCloud backups when a member leaves family sharing?

I have family members in my iCloud sharing account. We all want to migrate to individual accounts but we have iphone backups on the shared account.

  1. What happens to the backups when members in the shared icloud leave and move to their free tied icloud account?
  2. What is the best way to preserve the iphone backups on iCloud and move away from family sharing?

iCloud backups even when using shared iCloud storage, are still tied to the Apple ID of the family member. If you and the family decide to use your own iCloud storage, you will not lose your backups.

If your iCloud content exceeds the 5GB of free storage that Apple gives you, you will need to purchase more storage to accommodate your storage needs.
