I lost my phone 2 years ago and I've put it in lost mode since then. I never got any mail regarding any activity being done on the phpne . But recently i got the following mail -
Activation Lock is requesting your password on this device Device Name (Iphone 8). (‘The iphone i lost’)
I donot understand what this mail is about and why did i receive it.

This is most assuredly a scam.
Nothing in Apple’s FindMy architecture will EVER ask for your credentials via e-mail.
Presumably this e-mail also contained a link for you to “click?”

It did not ask me To type pr give my password ... it just said that activation locl is requesting your password.
