How can connect my iMac to my Early 2015 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro.

I want to use my iMac as a 2nd Display to my MacBook Pro. The MacBook Pro has a Thunderbolt 2 (I have that cable). The iMac (Retina 5K, 27 Inch, 2017) has Thunderbolt 3 ( I have the adapter 2 to 3). Bot running Version 11.4 Big Sur. I connect everything - hit Command F2 ... Nothing happens.

+1 on Jack's information.

The only iMacs that could act as an external display via Target Display Mode for another Mac were made between Late 2009 and Mid 2014. Additional limitations wer the iMac could have no higher macOS version than 10.13, and 2009 and 2010 models had to be 27-inch models.

You still have the option of network screen sharing:

Share the screen of another Mac - Apple Support

Slower and may not have the resolution, but OK for most business apps, No good for gaming, video editing, and critical-need photo processing.
