Restarting Apple Watch 4

Try to restart and all I get is a red z and green time.

It sounds like you are in Power Reserve Mode. Follow the steps in the 'Use Power Reserve' section of:

Check your battery and charge your Apple Watch - Apple Support

To turn off power reserve mode,press and hold the side button for about 10 seconds, until you see the watch restart and the Apple logo appear.
