Alarm Clock is not playing downloaded songs from Apple Music

Music fix: make sure song is downloaded to the phone to get it to work. I deleted all alarms and reset them and when it came to selecting the song you select the list titled downloaded in your music library and the song will play.

I have the same problem all my songs are older songs I lost Apple Music due to a switch over from individual to apple one being told to cancel (long story) but when everything returned and I set my alarms nothing HELP!!!!

I was having this issue too. Tried so many things and nothing seemed to work. Then I went into my Apple Music app and downloaded the song there (in addition to being downloaded and purchased off iTunes) and it fixed it! 💃

do you have a recommendation on how to change the alarm from radar at the highest volume? No matter what sound I pick (whether a song or another default sound), the alarm always plays radar at the highest volume.

Nothing of all these work for me! I woke up one day and suddenly my alarm wouldn’t play the songs i used for months. I changed nothing, i had lossless on for ages blah blah…my current ios is updated to 16.4.1a. Am really frustrated!

I was having the same problem. I never had a problem before playing any songs on my phone then one day it stopped and all I got was the annoying bell. I tried resetting my alarms, only using songs purchased from iTunes but still nothing. After reading the responses on here I went into settings, music, audio quality and turned off lossless and now it plays my songs on my alarm. Hope this works for you.

after an update, iTunes must’ve removed my song from being stored locally and put it on the cloud. To confirm this, I went to my music app and searched downloads and the song was no longer downloaded to my phone. Once I redownloaded the song (again you have to do this in the MUSIC app and not the iTunes Store) the song worked on all my alarms again.

For me, all I had to do was find the song in my library on my phone and click on the three dots next to it and hit “download”. The songs stored only in the iCloud won’t play. They need to be downloaded, apparently.

I just want psalm 135 to wake me up but it just plays radar? What’s the point of paying if it is a useless audio? I want my money back quite frankly. And when I search for lossless audio or Dolby atmos there’s no option for it. And why is this so complicated? I paid for the song, put it as my alarm sound, but no it’s not that simple, you have to redownload it, which in and of itself is complicated enough, make sure you turn off certain settings before you redownload it, and it might work then. If it doesn’t, you’re sol! And if, and that’s a very big if, an Apple employee responds to this I won’t find out because Apple just can’t be bothered to send notifications.

I encountered this issue recently on iOS 17 with the iPhone 15. The songs attached to alarms would not play when the alarms rang and the alarm defaulted to the originally programmed tune. What worked for me was downloading the songs again (no song purchase required) on Apple Music. Hope this helps!

Just forced myself to try and figure out a way to get alarms with lossless audio the best solution I could find is go into shortcuts and create an automation so that whenever an alarm goes off it plays a song. Works perfectly. Then you can also go and set up automation for when the alarm is snoozed/stopped it will stop the song. Also recommend setting all your alarms to no sound if you go this route otherwise it starts playing the other songs first. One thing that maybe I was a bit slow and couldn't figure out is that there was no option to pause music as an automation. It was a simple solution (making a non automated pause shortcut then running that) but I just didn't see an option for that inside the automation menu.

I had the same problem; I downloaded Chopin Etudes from Apple Music and the alarms worked but after a while I woke up to a different sound. It sounded nothing like the songs I wanted. I would click the song again, delete it and download it again from Apple Music, but it still played that "weird tone".

You need to go to the "Tone Store" aka "iTunes Store" and find the songs/tone/ring sound you want. You can buy an entire album, or just the sound. If it is a sound that you want, it is worth the purchase. I really wanted the "Dearly Beloved" Kingdom Hearts theme, and downloaded one for $1.29. I purchased a second one just in case (another $1.29). Hope this is helpful.

My phone quit playing the songs on alarm. It used to play them. This is creating a huge issue for me. I can get a loud enough volume to wake me on music. I am hearing impaired, and the volume for the alarm tones is not loud enough to wake me.

APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS, it started after last IOS update.i am current on all updates.

Just download the song in the Music app. Find the song and click the three dots next to its name, and then click download. It will work after that. If it’s just in the cloud and not downloaded to the phone then it won’t work.

It’s a very simple fix! You have to make sure it’s fully downloaded. Sometimes we add songs but we don’t fully download them to save space on our iPhone. In order for it to work they have to be downloaded;)
