not able to reply to specific message on iphone

I do not have the option to reply to a specific message although I have latest version of software

iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 14

If you are referring to a specific message bubble in a Message thread, is this thread with someone that uses an Android device? The Reply function only works with iMessage, and is accessed by double-tapping, the same way you would access Tapback.
