macbook pro overheats when using external display

macpro 16 inc 2019 started heating up with external display - I am using a usbc to hdmi dongle. I tried usbc to vga too. But after update to Bigsur I feel the laptop heats up and fan noise starts bothering me

You do not say what external Monitor...


You can try your power on the right side port and your display is on the left side—separating the two.



There are further suggestion here—

Keep your Mac notebook within acceptable operating temperatures
