As you may have learned, you will need about 20GB of free disk space (50GB is ideal) to download, verify and install macOS Big Sur. If you need to create more space then you will need to begin deleting data from the drive of your MacBook Air. Media files take up the most space so begin deleting unwanted Video, Music and Photo files and then move on to other data.
