Why is there no mention of removing the device from the "Find My" application before erasing the hard drive in the Apple Support topic pertaining to preparing a device for trade-in? Removal from "Find My" would appear to be an important step in the process.

Signing out of iCloud (step 3 in What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Mac - Apple Support ) turns off Find My Mac.
