iPhone and iMessage not syncing

I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) runnin macOS 11.3.1and an iPhone 11 running iOS 14.6. I can send and receive messages from both the iPhone and the Mac. Messages from some users appear only on the iPhone and not the Mac. Messages to those users when sent from the Mac time out after a few minutes and show as not delivered. The messages that appear on both iPhone and Mac can be sent from either iPhone and Mac. This problem has been persisting for a while.

Hello AixNPanes,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. We understand you are experiencing some issues with sending some messages on your Mac to some people. We are happy to help provide some guidance.

Do you know if the contacts you are trying to send messages to from your Mac are using Apple devices or are sending as iMessage? If the messages being sent from the Mac are going to a non Apple user or as an SMS message, you would want to make sure your Mac is configured with text messaging forwarding is set up so it routes through your iPhones cellular service. You can read more information about what to do if you aren't able to send messages on your Mac here:

If you can’t send or receive messages on your Mac

We hope this information helps.

Best Regards.
