Safari Sidebar

Safari has this new slide out sidebar on the left side. Any time my mouse is left in that side of the screen, this sidebar slides out with bookmarks and reading suggestions or something. I don't need this and it is super annoying since my mouse is often on that side of the screen and when I start typing again, the bar slides out, covering up with I'm trying to type! I know about shift+command+L, but it's not disabling it permanently so the accidental slide out still happens REGULARLY. Any way to permanently disable it?
