You do not need to "copy" music from Windows into iTunes, instead you add the music to your iTunes library.

When you have music stored on your computer, use the iTunes commands as follows:

  • to add a single song, click on File/Add File to Library and navigate to the folder with the song in it. Select the song and click on Open
  • to add a folder full of songs, click on File/Add Folder to Library and navigate to the folder you want to add. Click on (but don't go into) the folder and click on Select Folder button. Music in the sub folders of the one you selected is also added
