This is not an uncommon problem.
As described, and whilst perhaps counterintuitive, a simple restart of your WiFi Router will usually resolve the issue of a known-good network password being rejected by your iPad.
To restart your home router, disconnect power - then wait at least 30 seconds before restarting. When you router has rebooted (which may take several minutes), force-restart your iPad:

Hi,
You are welcome.
I have another solution:
Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings (Pls see attached photo) This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.
Cool Regards
Hi,
Perhaps you can go to Settings - - > Wifi , beside your Wifi network, click on i and click on Forget this network. Then you click on your Wifi network again and key in your Wifi network’s password.
Hope this helps.
Cool Regards
Thank you so much for your reply.Unfortunately this option is not open to me as in order to use forget this network you have to be connected to the internet so its back to square one as i need to join my network in order to connect with the internet.
Once again.thank you so much for replying.I was so hoping this would work but its catch 22 again. When i try to join network it asks for password then i`m told password incorrect.I cannot see a way out of this problem.
Hi,
Have you tried to reset your Network Settings? I had given you the reset Network Settings instructions earlier.
Is your old password too long? Why don't try to shorten it to about 16 characters?
Hope to receive good news from you.
Cool Regards
Thank you once again. It seems there is no hope for me as i have tried everything.I can no longer join networks on either of my ipads and one is only two years old so reluctant to buy a new one.I am even beginning to doubt if i am using the correct password.I am assuming its the long one on the livebox.
In view of your difficulties, perhaps the simplest and most effective method of either resolving the issue - or determining that you have a genuine issue with your iPad - is to reset the WiFi Password on your WiFi Router. Having done so, you will be certain of the WiFi Password.
Next, (re)join your devices to WiFi using the WiFi Password you have just configured. In the unlikely event that the problem remains unresolved, you will have constructively isolated the problem.
Thank you for trying to help me.
This morning i tried one last time with my password and it worked.I don`t know what caused this glitch but i`m very happy to have my ipad back.
Hi snorklebeak,

Pls continue to give your support to Apple.
Have a good day :)
