Why does my Apple SE watch sometimes show a green light in the centre of the back of the watch?

My Apple SE watch sometimes shows green light in the centre of the back of the watch. I can't find a way to stop it but it stops on it's own later. It usually happens when the watch is not on my wrist but on looking underneath when I'm wearing it, it sometimes is still on.

Try restarting the watch according to this Apple document: How to restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support then check to see if the problem persists.

Thanks for your reply. I don’t understand why it stays on when I’m not wearing it. For instance I wear it fit swimming in the sea and take it off when I’m finished swimming, to clean it with fresh water. That’s when I notice the green light which remains on for some considerable time. Is there a way to stop it because my battery seems to go low when this happens.
