I just bough the new Mac put a password on it but forgot it now I cannot log in

You need a password manager such as 1Password that you can install on your devices and use it to manage all the passwords and logins you are responsible for.


  1. Restart in the Recovery Partition (hold down Command + R on startup) please make sure your keyboard is plugged in like you would be recharging it!
  2. Open Terminal (look in the menus for it)
  3. In Terminal type resetpassword and follow the on-screen prompts.
