How do I sync my message so I get them on both my iPad and iPhone?

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding and add your iPad
If you want to keep messages in sync between devices, then go to Settings > {Your Name} > iCloud and toggle on messages.

I've been trying to sync my new iPad Air to my iPhone 6s.. Tried suggested solution but still not working.. Wondering if it has to do with my messaging small group consisting of 2 ios iphones and 1 android phone.. Is that the reason for my problem?
Thanks for your reply. However, I did all those steps and still they are not syncing. They used to sync all the time but suddenly stopped about a week or so ago. Is there another solution to try?
