A Couple of Thoughts...

New Admin User:

Create a different Administrator user, and try updating though that user.

Boot into Safe Mode:

[Hold Down: shift key] upon boot. Then log in to this newly-created admin user, seeing if you can get this to install.

Check for updates in the Mac App Store. Updates for iOS devices and Macs are separate.
