my MacBook Pro running Big Sur 11.5.2 is not showing an update available. What could be going on?

I have 2 different MacBooks -- one of them saw the update to Big Sur 11.6 and downloaded / installed it. The other one is running 11.5.2 and when I check for an update claims it's already running the latest version.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 11.5

You can try checking your software update from a safeboot environment—
