Won't let me customize toolbar in to add "Advanced Settings" in printer preferences

I need to add a printer, and I can't do it without the Advanced Settings in the Printers & Scanners preferences. Strangely, though, I can't access the Advanced Settings because the computer won't let me add it to the Toolbar. I can open "Customize Toolbar," but it won't let me customize it. I drag Advanced Settings down, but it won't stick.

Please help!

Boot into Safe Mode according to Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support and try to customize the tool bar from there and add the printer. Then reboot normally.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
