How to find the generation of an ipod

I am trying to find out what version Ipod I have. In settings I see a "Version" and when I try to find out via model number. The model number does not correspond to the model codes show. My model number begins with MD058 and the web shows A as the beginning model number

That's a fourth generation iPod touch; it corresponds to A1367. The numbers are from separate classification systems.
