Can an 8th generation iPad run iOS12?

I'm looking to buy an 8th generation iPad to use as a receptionist check-in, but the software requires iOS12 to work. Can someone confirm that a 2020 8th generation 10.2 inch iPad can do so? THANKS!

Hello. The 8th generation iPad shipped with iOS 14 and cannot be downgraded. Nearly all apps that run on iOS 12 should also work on iOS 14 or iOS 15.

As the 9th generation Apple iPad will also be available on 9/24/21, this may also be an option you want to consider over the older 8th generation iPad.

No, it can't. You'll only be able to use that application if it's compatible with 14 or 15.

Thanks! If the app says "must be able to run iOS12 or newer" does that mean the 8th generation will be able to do so since its shipped with iOS14/15?
