If I don't want to pay to subscribe to Apple Music or Apple music Match, can I use iCloud to back up my mac computer music folder?

Hi,
You should not use iCloud to backup your music as you won’t have sync capability. If you want to maintain a backup, I suggest that you use time machine backup or better still keep a back on an external hard drive.

Apple music or iTunes Match provides syncing capability. iCloud storage is not set up to sync with iTunes or the music app.

What is iTunes Match? I have never heard of it.
Will I be able to sync my music library to iCloud if I don't subscribe to Apple Music or Apple Match?
