Have seen this issue from time to time

Run the Application and it should remove the malware / adware. Once done, restart computer and test.

If the url is malformed and or missing the https versus the supplied link http, the Builtin in Safari may not totally understand and present the issue described.

I finally got the Apple Store, but when I search for a specific app the message says it Cannont Connect to the App Store

I have trouble connecting to the App Store. I forgot network settings and reset them. Got the App Store open but when Isearched gor Google Chat, it says Cannot Connect to the App Store again.
