Is it possible to switch an AT&T iPad to another carrier?

For some reason when I tried to get an O2 SIM in my iPad AT&T when visiting Ireland, it didn't work at all. Are there any UK SIMs that work in AT&T iPads?

And my T-Mobile SIM didn't work either.

It is an iPad Air 2.

Some devices purchased directly from a Cellular Carrier, if associated with a Carrier Plan, may be subsidy locked to the Carrier.

You need to contact AT&T. There is normally a charge to remove the subsidy lock - and a minimum continuous contact period period before a subsidy lock can be removed.

Hi brody,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. We understand that you are looking for a compatible O2 SIM card for your iPad that works in Ireland and we'd like to point you in the right direction for help.

You can use the steps here to reach out to your carrier for help with this:

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

Thank you. I tried an O2 SIM while I was in Ireland, and unfortunately it did not work at all. Which makes me wonder if my iPad is locked on AT&T, or I needed to try a different carrier SIM. I will be visiting the UK in May, so I may be in able to try something different. Do you believe I should be able to use specific UK carriers?
