Go to Settings﹥Network﹥. What do you see?

If you see an IP address 192.168.x.x, then your router and home network are probably okay.

If you see an IP address 169.254.x.x, then you router didn't manage to give your Apple TV a valid connectable address, and instead one was self-assigned, but not functional for connectivity.

Try restarting both the router and the Apple TV box. That should fix it most of the time.
