I purchased new iPhone 13 pro max. I was wondering if I can use old iPhone charger, 7 or X Max, charger to charge iPhone 13 pro? Since the old charger has the electric wall plug for USBA and also the car has port for USB A.

Today at the store when we purchased an iPhon 13 they said the old charger (USB A) would damage the battery because it was only 5W.
I assumed this was just salesmanship, but purchased a block anyway. Do you know - or does anyone know - if this is true? I don't want to damage the battery.

Yes, they said that so you give them business by buying a new one. New 20W charger is suppose to charge faster but the old ones will not damage battery for the new iPhone.
I am using my old charger, since I purchased the new iPhone 13, and so far everything is good. You don't need to buy new charger.

Will using old charger damage the battery of my new iPhone 13 pro? I am thinking using old charger will be charging iPhone at a lower speed than the new 20W charger.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max actually can slow charge (I do it occasionally); however, a 20W power adapter is recommended.

Of course they did. A new 20W USB-C charger has better support for optimized charging and supports fast charging but your old one won't do any damage.
