2021 Macbook Pro 16" / 14" Menu Bar Size Limitation (Result of Display Notch)

Hello,

After a certain number of apps are open, eventually new menu-bar-displayed apps just disappear and are not visible in the menu bar... kind of sucks as it appears the notch is actually impairing the user experience. Would Apple at least give us an option to overflow the menu bar content to the left of the notch?

I've found the following behaviors on the new MBP's:

  • EXCEPT when Safari is in focus, the left of the notch shows menu items and the right of the notch shows status bar items.
  • If you have more status bar items than can appear in that area, the just "disappear" behind the notch and cannot be clicked, even behind the notch.
  • IF Safari is in focus (its menu bar is showing), then the status bar behaves as it did in previous (non-notched screen) MBP's:
    • the status bar items that don't fit to the right of the notch will display behind it, or even to the left of it if you have that many
    • those items behind the notch CAN be accessed by moving the mouse to their location and clicking there to activate them

Obviously, this shows that the engineering to make those status bar items all available is possible.
