Preview is missing a lot of fonts

Hello,

I've discovered that Preview displays only some fonts from Font Book. Most of the fonts available in other apps are not available in the dropdown list in Preview. For example, Kaiti is installed and enabled in the system, but not in Preview.

It turns out that the problem has actually been previously reported by other users, but in the last 5-6 years it has never been resolved. While I enjoy working with Preview, the lack of fonts necessary for PDF editing makes this experience not as pleasant and also makes me take additional steps that I would rather avoid. Tried Safe Mode; didnt work.

Is there any solution to this? Apart from using other software of course.

Thanks in advance

You do realize that this is used for text annotations and not exactly for editing the actual text of the pdf, right? Preview does not let you do that, you’d need the full Acrobat to do it, anyway.
