My new iPhone will not allow me to use my rescue email to set up my new iPhone. I am unable to retrieve the password from my original email address
Rescue email is considered being used for an Apple ID do it cannot be used to create a new Apple ID. You either need to gain access to the original Apple ID, use a different email or set up a new iCloud email for the Apple ID.
