Video camera suddenly not working on my 2015 MacBook, although it's been fine until a couple of weeks ago. I'm still on Mojave. Is there a fix without an upgrade?

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
Have you done a PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...

Does it work in PhotoBooth?
My older Logitech C920 Pro HD webcam works on Monterey 12.0.1 (M1 Pro MacBook Pro) and several previous operating system releases, across different Mac models. Does not use vendor drivers, and is connected via a USB-3.0 hub, or a USB-C to USB3 dongle.
Camera doesn't work in safe mode - tried it a few times.
Also no response from several PRAM resets.
It doesn't work in Photobooth either.
Any other ideas?

Sys Prefs>Security & Privacy>Privacy tab>Camera... what Apps are allowed to use the Camera?
Skype and Zoom are selected. Both apps give a "no camera detected" or similar notice when I check video.
About this Mac>System Report>Hardware>Camera, does anything show or has it failed?
"No video capture device was found."
