macbook update not showing

i can't see any updates for my mac book in the app store? i want to download 10.11 but only have the 10.10.5? help please

10.11 would not be a an update to 10.10.5, it would be an upgrade. Upgrades would be available from the App Store app, not the Software Update system preference.
