If the new phone is unlocked or set up for the same carrier, you should be able to use the same SIM. That's often the easiest way to transfer your mobile number from one phone to the other. However, if you are transitioning from a non-5G phone to a 5G capable phone, you'll need a new SIM in order to get 5G service.
