iTunes and iPhone won't sync properly

I have tried several times for days to sync music on my iPhone 6 with iTunes on my WIndows computer, but they won't sync. All the iTunes does is start the syncing process and prepare the items to be synced in three steps. Before this problem arose, my iPhone would sync in six steps. It is not working anymore. Can someone please help out? Thank you.

Try Edit > Preferences > Devices > Reset Sync History (if available) and then try syncing once more.

If that hasn't helped try signing out of the iTunes Store on the device and then try again.

Otherwise see this post on erratic syncing.
