How to set default volume of new audio tracks?

When I drag an audio sample into Logic Pro X, my workflow is to drag the sample into the empty space in the arrangement window. When I do this, it automatically creates a new audio track.

Right now, that new audio track defaults to a volume of -3.1

I didn't do anything to set that volume, but I would love to be able to customize it (perhaps to -10 by default, so I have loads of headroom).

Is it possible to set that volume of a default audio track in Logic Pro X? I have a friend who did this years ago so I know it is possible, plus, the default volume of my Logic seems to be -3.1, but again, no idea how this happened.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for the feedback, but I'm specifically looking for a workflow when dragging samples into my arrange window (duplicating a track is essentially just as time consuming as dragging or typing -10 for a volume fader.

I still find it interesting that Logic would default to -3.1 when I drag in new samples as of now. I'm assuming since it used to default at 0, there has to be a way to change that number. Unless changing it to -3.1 was a global change for all users in one of the recent updates?

I dont think this is possible. What you can do though, is to make an empty audio track set to your default volume, and make a duplicate of that track everytime you import a new sample.

Maybe you find what you need in the Project Settings. Some also have a gain plugin as a preset on a new audio channel, that can be set to your predefined volume.
